Super cool ‘Raven’ portrait, hand built ceramic sculpture, by Marieke Ringel, in Devon.

Marieke says;

‘Both box and animal are made in stoneware and fired at 1260°C.

I stain the clay for the boxes by hand to get the different stages of grey that I aim for. The animals are all hand sculpted and absolutely unique.
They are painted with various ceramic slips and oxides, for the eyes I use a little bit of glaze. Often they are fired multiple times, until the desired result is achieved.

It can be hung on the wall with a screw or nail that locks into the support on the back.’
